Churchill and Smith Natural Mattress — Talalay Latex & NZ Wool | Single-sided

The Churchill and Smith Natural Mattress is Loving Sleep's signature line, forty years in the making. It is built on an 8-inch individually wrapped zoned coil unit engineered with a reinforced lifetime flex spring edge and a natural center support zone that adds extra density and strength through the middle of the mattress where the body needs it most. The coil zone is designed to be denser and more supportive around the perimeter and more contouring through the center, where the shoulders and hips lie — so the mattress adapts to the natural shape of the body without pushing back in the wrong places. A hand laid cotton layer sits above the coil unit as a clean transition into the natural comfort layers above. It is built on the full 8-inch zoned coil unit with a hand laid cotton layer above it, then 3 full inches of Talalay latex for a deeply cradling, enveloping comfort layer, topped with 1 inch of New Zealand Joma wool and the organic cotton ticking. Coming in at approximately 12 inches total, this is the most luxurious feel in the Churchill and Smith line — a cloud-soft surface with genuine coil support and natural breathability beneath it. Single-sided construction. Ideal for side sleepers and those who want the most plush, natural sleep surface in the collection. The organic woven cotton ticking naturally absorbs moisture at the surface while the New Zealand Joma wool beneath it wicks that moisture away — the two materials working together to keep the sleep surface dry, balanced, and fresh. Because both the latex and the wool are porous and breathable, the mattress keeps you at a comfortable temperature all night long, which is essential for uninterrupted, restorative sleep. The latex conforms to your body and adjusts naturally as you move, never locking you into a fixed position the way memory foam or synthetic materials tend to do. This model is single-sided. We recommend pairing the Churchill and Smith Natural Mattress with a simple all-cotton mattress pad with no polyester in the quilting — this completes a fully ventilated, breathable sleep surface from top to bottom. Peaceful nights start with a healthy mattress that cradles and supports your body as you sleep. This is that mattress.

NATURAL LATEX: WHERE COMFORT MEETS PURE BREATHABLE SUPPORT
Churchill & Smith uses only 100% natural Talalay and Dunlop latex—never synthetics. Natural latex is resilient, pressure-relieving, and supports proper spinal alignment by contouring to your body instead of forcing it flat. Its buoyancy promotes deeper relaxation and outlasts other materials like memory foam or innersprings. The open-cell structure keeps air flowing to prevent overheating, making it ideal for allergy sufferers. Unlike synthetic foams that trap heat and off-gas, our natural latex stays cool and fresh all night. Every Churchill & Smith mattress is built to breathe, offering long-lasting comfort, support, and a healthier sleep environment.

JOMA WOOL: NATURE'S BREATHABLE COMFORT FOR A CLEANER COOLER SLEEP
Wool is a natural, breathable fiber that keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer. Unlike synthetics that trap heat and cause restlessness, wool regulates body temperature and heart rate for deeper, more balanced sleep. It wicks away moisture, keeping you dry and comfortable all night. Wool’s natural springiness provides lasting support, cushioning pressure points and conforming to your body without flattening over time. It’s naturally flame-resistant, thanks to its keratin and moisture content, making it one of the safest bedding materials. Our Joma wool is clean, non-allergenic, and resistant to mold, mildew, and dust mites—perfect for allergy-sensitive sleepers.

COTTON: NATURE'S SOFT TOUCH FOR PURE BREATHABLE COMFORT
Churchill & Smith uses a blend of organic and natural cotton for its unmatched comfort and purity. Cotton, one of the oldest known fibers, is naturally soft, breathable, and eco-friendly. We use it in our mattresses, toppers, and pillows for its durability, absorbency, and gentle feel. Cotton provides balanced density for lasting support without flattening and promotes healthy airflow to regulate body temperature and prevent overheating. Its breathability keeps your body cool and dry throughout the night. Unlike synthetics, natural cotton is hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant, making it ideal for those with allergies, asthma, or sensitive skin. Pure comfort, naturally.

POCKETED COILS: PRECISION-ENGINEERED SUPPORT FOR LASTING COMFORT.
Churchill & Smith uses advanced pocketed spring coils for unmatched comfort and support. Not all coils are equal, which is why we use only top-tier patented pocket springs known for quality and consistency. Our manufacturing process eliminates leaning coils, ensuring every mattress feels balanced and supportive. Belted Pocket Spring Technology joins four coils into a QuadCoil module, maximizing stability and coil performance. The design also prevents twisting inside the pocket, reducing fabric stress and extending durability. With a center-seam closure that removes the false loft seen in standard coils, this system delivers lasting comfort, superior motion separation, and precise body contouring.

FOAM ENCASEMENT: STRONG EDGES, BETTER SUPPORT

Many of our Loving Sleep hybrids use foam encasement, a high-density polyurethane foam frame that surrounds the coil system.

This design serves two key purposes:
Stronger Edges - The foam perimeter makes the mattress feel firmer and more supportive all the way to the edge, so you don’t feel like you’re rolling off.
Tighter Coil Structure – By locking the coil unit in place, foam encasement keeps the springs firmly packed together, adding stability and overall support.

We typically use a 5-inch foam encasement around our mattresses, though it can be built in different thicknesses and heights depending on the design. The result is a more durable, supportive, and comfortable sleep surface from edge to edge.

Breathable, Supportive, and Essential

Cotton plays a key role in the Loving Sleep Collection.

We use a layer of cotton sheeting over the coils to help position them and keep the entire coil unit aligned. This layer adds structure and stability, ensuring the mattress holds its shape and support over time.

Beyond support, cotton is naturally breathable, helping regulate airflow through the mattress and contributing to a cooler, more comfortable sleep.

We also include a cotton blend center support layer, reinforcing the mattress where your body needs it most.

Cotton is simple, natural, and effective-an essential ingredient in the balance of comfort and support in every Loving Sleep mattress.

FOLDED VS ROLLED

Why some Mattresses Are Rolled and Others Are NotNot all mattresses are built the same, and neither are the ways they should be shipped. Many online mattress companies roll-pack every mattress to meet UPS and FedEx size and weight limits. To do that, the mattress has to be compressed down aggressively. In many cases, this is only possible because lighter, lower-density materials and simplified builds are used.At Loving Sleep, many of our mattresses are built with heavier, denser foams and, in some models, substantial innerspring systems. These mattresses exceed standard carrier limits and are not designed to be rolled. Rolling or over-compressing these builds would place unnecessary stress on the materials and support system. For those models, we use folding and controlled compression or local hand delivery instead. This preserves the structure of the mattress and keeps it performing the way it was intended. When rolling is appropriateWe do roll and compress mattresses when the design allows for it. Our all-foam models, even when built with higher-grade materials, can safely meet UPS and FedEx weight and size requirements without harming the mattress. In these cases, rolling and compression are simply an efficient way to ship, not a compromise in quality. The difference is the buildThe decision to roll, fold, or hand-deliver comes down to the materials, density, and support system inside the mattress. We choose the shipping method based on what best protects the mattress, not what fits a one-size-fits-all shipping box.If you ever have questions about how a specific model ships or why it’s handled a certain way, we’re always happy to explain.

lovingsleepmattressdelivery.png__PID:cd802461-da22-4f26-87a1-277934397e96

CURBSIDE DELIVERY

Heavy-duty shipping, right to your curb. Because some of our mattresses are substantial and exceed UPS/FedEx weight limits, they ship through trusted freight carriers (LTL). The carrier will deliver your mattress curbside. You’ll receive a delivery window in advance, and it will require two strong people to move it from the truck into your home. This is the only way to deliver some mattresses that are heavy in weight, with complete integrity.

“We look for the best ingredients. We use nature itself. No foams, no polyurethane, no synthetics go into any of our products. Only pure natural sleep.”
—Spencer Simcik, Founder of Loving Sleep

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Subscribe to our youtube channel "Spencer's Mattress" for expert insights
How long will an organic mattress last?

With good construction and care, many last 10–15 years or more (some natural latex mattresses last even longer).

Is it okay to rotate or flip a natural latex mattress?

Usually there’s no need to flip, but rotating (head to foot) can help even out wear, and flipping layers might be fine in some constructions.

Will my mattress off-gas?

Natural materials tend to off-gas much less than synthetic foams. A mild “earthy” or wool smell is often normal and should fade over a few days.

Are organic mattresses good for allergy sufferers?

Yes, if made well. Because they avoid many irritating chemicals and resist dust mites, mold, and some allergens. But check for any materials (like latex, adhesives) that might trigger your sensitivities.

What certifications should I look for?

Common ones: GOTS (textiles), GOLS (latex), GREENGUARD / GREENGUARD Gold, OEKO-TEX, or other non-toxic / low VOC seals.
